These Coachbuild Droptails By Rolls-Royce Are Stuff Made of Dreams

As a superluxury brand, Rolls-Royce Motor Cars always aims to make personal and meaningful luxury products that reflect preferences and styles of its customers. Unique Bespoke capabilities are used to turn these ideas into handcrafted, individual Rolls-Royces. The Boat Tail introduced last year served to prove just that, too.

Rolls-Royce is now introducing the third chapter of their coachbuild journey: the Rolls-Royce Droptail. Coachbuild represents the haute couture of cars - the highest level of the Rolls-Royce brand. With Droptail, Rolls-Royce is revealing its first modern roadster. These are the most intricate and refined Coachbuild projects yet, developed over four years in collaboration with their customers.

Two of four new coachbuild Droptails, La Rose Noire and Amethyst, each has its own unique story that reflects the ambitions, visions and tastes of clients who commissioned them.

La Rose Noire is the first of four Droptail commissions, inspired by romance and the allure of the Black Baccara rose, an intense, velvet-like flower that originates in France and is beloved by the mother of the commissioning family.

This creation draws its inspiration from romance and the allure of the Black Baccara rose. Its design showcases the most intricate parquetry expression ever witnessed in a Rolls-Royce, featuring an assembly of 1,603 wood pieces meticulously hand-finished and placed over a span of nearly two years. The development process also witnessed the refinement of a new exterior paint technique, involving 150 iterations for achieving perfection.

A matching Champagne Chest was specially commissioned to present the client's exclusive vintage collection. 'La Rose Noire' also boasts a wearable Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Concept timepiece, elevating the driving experience to an entirely new level of sophistication and exclusivity.

Amethyst is a coachbuilt masterpiece that celebrates its commissioning client’s cultural heritage, family legacy and personal passions. It is inspired by the patron’s son’s birthstone.

The project blends excellent craftsmanship with simplicity, incorporating distinct features such as the spacious wood veneer aft deck and the functional rear wood section with amethyst gems. Amethyst Droptail reflects the client's deep personal engagement, resulting in a product of uniqueness that embodies a well-defined vision.

For the first time, a combination of brushed and polished finishes has been employed on the Pantheon grille, taking cues from the artistry of high-end watchmaking and specifically referencing the client's Vacheron Constantin timepiece.
