We all love the Golf Sport for its high quality feel and look at a reasonable sticker price factor, performance with efficiency virtue, low running costs and that bullet proof image factor.

The economical yet fast Volkswagen Golf Sport came up tops in the combined Judge's and Reader's Polls...

Yes, oneshift’s Car of the Year is a Volkswagen Golf once again, the Mk V GTI having taken the crown a couple of years back. But despite its Sport moniker, this is a much more sensible and affordable Golf than the hot hatch GTI.

The latest generation Golf might not be a quantum leap over the brilliant Mk V but the tweaks and improvements have made the Golf an even more complete car. Volkswagen actually moved forward the launch of the sixth generation Golf by a good two years as the Mk V proved to be too expensive to build but it certainly wasn’t any old rush job. In fact, there are no visible clues that the Mk VI is in any way cheaper to build or not as well-built as the previous model.

We all love it for its high quality feel and look at a reasonable sticker price factor, performance with efficiency virtue, low running costs and that bullet proof image factor. The Golf is not the fastest car in the list. Neither it is the most beautifully styled but as an overall package, it certainly is hard to beat.
