OneShift Car of the Year 2023
OneShift Car Of The Year 2023
Dear Reader,
OneShift Car of the Year returns this year in a bigger and better way, while staying true to its direction started last year to focus on the three key powertrains in the market today - internal combustion engines, hybrids and electric. In particular, the latter two will help consumers make a more informed choice as we see a greater proliferation of electrification in an exponential way.
We now include an added consideration of body styles, namely: Hatchback, Sedan/Liftback, Wagon, SUV, MPV, Coupe/Convertible, Crossover and Commercial Vehicles.
Furthermore, we have further segmented them into four sub-categories - Premium, Luxury, High Luxury and Super Luxury. As before, we are also awarding the cars that were the best in the respective 10 voting criterias.
This time, we have expanded COTY to include Automotive Specialists, broadening the spectrum to provide automotive tips and information for not just new car buyers, but also existing car owners.
For an overview of all of the winners, head onto the Winners page. For an in-depth analysis of the best cars of 2023, see here!
We hope you will find this edition of OneShift COTY useful and insightful!
With best regards,
The OneShift Editorial Team
OneShift Car of the Year 2022

How are the vehicles judged?

We came up with the ten most important characteristics of a car to rate, which is as comprehensive as it is rigorous. It's important to note that we have assessed the cars not by their absolute performance, but by how they outperformed within their segment, to ensure that we do not simply reward expensive, luxurious and high-performance cars.

The Jury

James Wong

James Wong

A gentleman with a penchant for all things classic and timeless, James spends way too much time scrolling Carousell Autos ads for interesting cars. In his free time, he enjoys casual 2-stroke kart racing with friends who keep calling him Boss. He is bewildered at how his 4 year old boy can identify cars on the road faster than him.
Joel Foo

Joel Foo

A cycling aficionado and horology enthusiast, Joel likes things that age like fine wine and shuns passing fads. His car fascination equally matches his intrigue for bikes. Some say he is a 60 year old man inside a millennial's body.
Ronald Chua

Ronald Chua

Possibly OneShift’s most dashing presenter, it’ll be challenging to find Ronald dressed in anything but a finely pressed shirt and polished oxfords. Having encyclopedia-like car knowledge and the best dress sense of the team has made him a darling of OneShift's TikTok.
