Toyota has revealed the new GR Yaris at Singapore Motorshow 2025. This “Mk2” as we like to call it also comes with an automatic option (Mk1 was manual-only), which is what the official dealer here has decided to import. Rally-inspired DNA with paddle shifters this time sounds like the real deal for tarmac rallying - an execution even #savethemanuals diehards might concede.

"We are thrilled to launch the new GR Yaris in Singapore, bringing the excitement of motorsports to everyone. It’s the perfect fusion of motorsport-inspired performance and everyday convenience.” Said Mr Eric Tong, Sales and Distribution Director of Borneo Motors Singapore. “With its advanced transmission and exhilarating driving dynamics, the new GR Yaris delivers a thrilling experience for both enthusiasts and everyday drivers alike."

An 8-speed automatic, some might argue, could upset driving feel - but don’t worry - it’s developed with input from rally drivers and motorsports experts. It includes race-inspired technology for quick, responsive gear changes and close-ratio gears that optimise the 1.6-litre turbo engine's powerband. You'll have 276hp and 390Nm at your disposal.

The interior also receives a major refresh. The GR Yaris’ cockpit is designed with Toyota’s driver-first philosophy, featuring a 15-degree tilted control panel for better visibility and ergonomics, a 25mm-lowered driving position (based on customer feedback!) with a repositioned steering wheel and a 12.3-inch TFT display showing real-time performance data, including a turbo boost gauge and g-force meter.

If you’d like to get up close to one, visit Toyota’s booth at Singapore Motorshow 2025, or swing by their showrooms at Toyota Leng Kee and Ubi.
