US: Ford launches 2016 GT at North American International Autoshow
Acura wasn’t the only manufacturer to reveal a new supercar at the 2015 NAIAS - Ford did as well. Prior to the show, there were rumours that the management behind the blue oval had plans to bring a new flagship supercar to the show, and that rumour has been confirmed after the American automaker pulled the wraps off its 2016 Ford GT. The new Ford GT shares virtually nothing with the GT of the mid-2000s. It will come equipped with a new twin turbocharged 3.5 litre EcoBoost V6, which should develop at least 600bhp. The body has been aerodynamically sculpted, and happens to be made from carbon fibre. Just like its rivals from Europe, the GT will come with active aerodynamics. The car is set to enter production next year, to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the 1-2-3 Ford took at Le Mans in 1966.
