Updated BMW 6 Series Gran Turismo Breaks Cover

The 5 series LCI isn’t the only ‘new’ car that BMW has unveiled virtually of late. They’ve also taken the opportunity to show off the new BMW 6 Series Gran Turismo, which will be made available in select markets starting from July this year.

The 6-er sports redesigned front and rear ends, which according to BMW, brings about increased presence and a more powerful sporting allure. This is made possible by an updated front fascia with larger kidneys and slimmer headlights, that, like those on the LCI-ified 5 series of the same generation, will come with adaptive LED Headlights with matrix technology, albeit as a standard feature, and BMW’s Laserlight as an option.

If you’re after something edgier, the car will come with an M Sport package that sports a more striking front apron and large diffuser element at the rear. The car can be had in a range of new exterior colours and additional BMW Individual paint finishes, with optional blue or red M Sport brake calipers.

Sticking with the exterior, the car comes as standard with a set of 18 inch alloy wheels, but can be shod in optional lightweight 19 and 20 inch rims if you so desire.

Inside, the 12.3-inch Control Display is now standard. It is powered by BMW’s Operating System 7, and has smart navigation and smartphone integration via both Android Auto and Apple Carplay. The steering wheel has also been redesigned, and so too has the climate control.

Dakota leather upholstery is standard across the range, with BMW Individual’s full leather trim available as an optional extra. Other updates include dynamic interior lighting, improved rear-seat entertainment systems, as well as four-zone automatic climate control, panoramic glass sunroof, electrically adjustable roller sunblinds and the Bowers & Wilkins Diamond Surround Sound System.

Mechanically, all engines will have a 48V mild hybrid system, which provides an extra 11hp boost for added efficiency and power. All diesel engines now come with two-stage turbocharging, and the entire range, regardless of fuel type, is now Euro 6d compliant. All powerplants are mated to an eight-speed Steptronic transmission, with BMW’s xDrive intelligent all-wheel drive either standard or optional for three engine variants.
