Toyota Prius and C-HR Hybrid Cars Involved in Recall

Toyota is conducting a safety recall for their Prius and C-HR Hybrid cars. Approximately 1,026,000 vehicles will be involved in this recall. In Singapore, there are currently 4,115 Prius cars, which have been affected. Singapore’s Toyota Dealership, Borneo Motors (Singapore) will be working with Toyota Motor Corporation and Land Transport Authority to ensure that both Prius and parallel imported C-HR HV models are supported.

The fault, according to Toyota is an engine wire harness, which is connected to the hybrid vehicle Power Control unit. A portion of the wire harness could come into contact with the cover at this connection and wear down over time, potentially causing an electrical short circuit. In a worst case scenario, with enough heat generated, the affected vehicle stands to risk catching fire.

All affected vehicles will be checked by Borneo Motors (Singapore), and those with an exposed wire core will have their engine wire harness assembly replaced with a new one, that includes a protective sleeve; if the wire core is not exposed, protective tape will be installed on the engine wire harness assembly.

Borneo motors (Singapore) will be reaching out to affected Prius customers to perform the repair at no cost.
