This Is Probably The Most Desirable Car Alfa Romeo Makes Today

In its dogged determination, Alfa Romeo went ahead to produce ultra hot versions of its Giulia, the sort of cars that we do not see often, if at all, among new releases today.

The GTA and GTAm are both reminiscent of JDM homologation specials, especially the latter. Little concession has been given to bean counters and straight-jacket corporate types, with the rulebook cleanly thrown away.

Things are done the Alfa way here, including open collaborations with Sauber, Autodelta and drivers of the Alfa Romeo Racing ORLEN Formula 1 team, Antonio Giovinazzi and Kimi Räikkönen. Rear seats are completely thrown out in the GTAm. You even get a Bell helmet in special GTA livery and full Alpinestars racing apparel.

Based on the legendary 1965 Giulia GTA, the “Gran Turismo Alleggerita”, the GTA is powered by the Alfa Romeo 2.9 V6 Bi-Turbo engine, upgraded to 540 hp, with a power-to-weight ratio of 187 hp per litre.

With its extensive use of ultra-light materials (e.g. titanium Akrapovič central exhaust system), it benefits from a weight reduction of up to 100 kg compared to the Giulia Quadrifoglio, and 0 to 100 km/h is accomplished in just 3.6 seconds. Like the Porsche 911 GT3 RS, there are rims with a single locking nut (a first in the world for a sedan) as well as cloth door pull handles.

At the undercarriage, the Quadrifoglio’s front wheel tracks have been widened by 25mm and their rear counterparts by 50mm, while a specific suspension setup was made for the suspension systems (the front with two oscillating arms, the rear using independent multilink springs).

The GTAm takes things even further. Rear seats have been removed, leaving room for a fully upholstered “basin”, hosting specific moldings designed to hold helmets and a fire extinguisher. The interior features a roll bar and no rear door panels, as well as polycarbonate side and rear window frames.

Exterior wise, there is a manually adjustable front splitter & rear aero wing and a new air extractor capable of increasing the car’s ground effect, allowing the Giulia GTAm to develop double the pressure compared to the Giulia GTA, and a triple increase compared to the Giulia Quadrifoglio.

All units allocated to Singapore have already been spoken for. However, if you really wanted to get your hands on one, Alfa Romeo Singapore may be able to work something out for you… In my opinion, the GTAm in particular is worth every cent of its retail price. The GTA sits in a less straightforward position in the product line-up.
