The new Subaru Forester. More Space, More Safe, More Sight

The new Subaru Forester. More Space, More Safe, More Sight

And finally it is here. The New Subaru Forester has reached our shores. Launched on 26 October at Ngee Ann City Civic Plaza, the new SUV is their most important car. The previous Forester had proven to be a successful formula, with its sure-footed symmetrical all-wheel drive, boxer engine which provided a low centre of gravity and plenty of usable passenger and utility space.

Like all new Subarus, the Forester is built on the new Subaru Global Platform (SGP), which greatly improves the stiffness of the car. We tested it during the regional launch in Taiwan and found the improvement in handling notable, with less chassis flex.

The new Forester also feels even more balanced than the previous car, partially thanks to the inclusion of Active Torque Vectoring. Capitilising on its symmetrical all-wheel drive, Subaru has also included their new X-MODE function, which simply means more off-roading credibility.

New to the car are safety features like its Subaru Rear Vehicle Detection (SRVD) and EyeSight Driver Assist Technology which forms another additional layer of safety.

Under the hood, a new 2 litre naturally aspirated engine, good for 154bhp and 196Nm of torque powers the new SUV. Power is transferred to the wheels via a Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT) with 7 virtual gears for improved fuel efficiency.

The new car is larger on the inside as well, with boot space seeing a notable improvement in boot space, with a maximum of 1,775 litres available. Adding to convenience, the Japanese brand has also improved on the function of the electric boot lid, which operates more quickly and also has a larger rear opening for improved access.

The new Forester retails for: *
2.0i-L EyeSight - $111,800
2.0i-S - $118,800

* Prices are correct as of press time.
