BMW is forging ahead with its model offensive in the luxury segment with the presentation of an open-top sports car which explores the highest reaches of dynamic flair, emotionality and exclusivity.

The new BMW 8 Series Convertible blends ultra-sporty driving properties with distinctive design elegance, and it offers an extremely exclusive passport to hallmark BMW driving pleasure and a full-blooded open top driving experience.

The chassis technology is sharpened with the racing know-how of BMW M GmbH, is also used for detailed modifications and enhancements as well as the overall set-up of the 8 Series Convertible. BMW claims that it is able to maximise the car’s agility, precision and performance.

The entire ambience of the interior conveys the characteristic dynamic attributes of a sports car combined with the heights of elegance and distinctive luxury. These qualities are enhanced by the coordinated surface textures and the careful choice of materials for the interface between the instrument panel and the door trims.

The interior is furnished with full leather trim for the instrument panel and door shoulders, plus electrically adjustable sports seats and Vernasca leather upholstery. Standard equipment includes a high-quality wind deflector which can be set up in the rear-seat area to prevent unwanted air turbulence when driving with the top down.

Model variants at launch are the M850i xDrive and 840d xDrive. The BMW 850i xDrive Convertible underlines individuality and sportiness. It gets an extremely powerful M Sport braking system, 20-inch M light-alloy wheels with high-performance tyres, exclusive exterior features in Cerium Grey, illuminated door sill strips with model badges and interior trim strips in stainless steel mesh design.

While the BMW 840d xDrive Convertible gets the M Technic Sport Package, which brings 20-inch M light-alloy wheels with high-performance tyres, an even more potent M Sport braking system, the M Sport differential and extended BMW Individual high-gloss Shadow Line trim. Further scope for individualisation comes in the form of Chrome Line Exterior and M Carbon Exterior packages are just optional extras.

The BMW M850i xDrive Convertible takes to the stage with its powerful 4.4 litre V8 petrol engine that is powered by an eight-speed Steptronic Transmission, producing 530 horsepower and 750Nm of torque, gets you from 0 to 100km/h in a respectable 3.9 seconds.

The milder BMW 840d xDrive Convertible is also powered by an eight-speed Steptronic Transmission. Under the hood, you get a 3.0 litre six-cylinder in-line diesel engine developing 320 horsepower and 680Nm of torque, allows a much relaxed cruising speed and powerful mid-range sprints. Pressing the accelerator hard enables a century sprint in 5.2 seconds.

The extraordinary BMW 8 Series Convertible will be arriving in Singapore within the first quarter of 2019.
