The all-new 2018 Lexus LS

The all-new 2018 Lexus LS

No one knows that Lexus could have achieved so much when it all began 28 years ago. Fast forward to today, the luxury arm of Japanese car-maker Toyota has become one of the rare premium brands in the automobile circle. Since the first Lexus model, the LS 400, was debuted in 1989, the company has continued in its pursuit for perfection, comfort, performance, quality, detail an dependability. The values that Lexus hold from day one have been clearly defined in the all-new, fifth-generation LS flagship sedan for 2018. Unveiled at the recent 2017 North American International Auto Show, the new LS is a symbol of luxury that the company is strongly associated with. The new 2018 Lexus LS is longer and lower than its precedessor, featuring a bold design with a coupe-like silhouette. Asahi, the Chief Engineer of the new 2018 Lexus LS, said: "We set previously unheard of targets and resolutely pushed ahead towards these ambitious goals. The customers that are going to want to own a Lexus flagship are already surrounded by luxury on a daily basis, people who have a sharp eye for authenticity to begin with. We wouldn’t turn their heads with a conventional premium product.” The creation of the new 2018 Lexus LS is a unique journey on its own simply because everything about this car started from ground zero. Lexus' goal was not to improve on what Lexus has already done, but rather, to exceed the expectations of global luxury customers. The Japanese term "Omotenashi" is a signature word that is applied across the LS fleet. "Omotenashi" refers to the concept of Japanese hospitality. In Lexus' term, it means taking care of the driver and passengers, anticipating their needs, attending to their comfort and making sure that they are protected from road hazards. The new 2018 Lexus LS is a nimble and agile car. Lightweight materials, including ultra-high tensile steel sheet and aluminum, are one of the hallmarks that create the dynamism of the car. Fueled by the all-new 3.5-litre V6 engine, which is mated to an all-new twin turbo platform, the new 2018 Lexus LS gives a power output of 415 horsepower. Thanks to the redesigned engine mounts, electric waste gates and the restructured cylinder block, the new 2018 Lexus LS is remarkably smooth. 4.5 seconds are all it takes to push the car from halt to 60 kilometres per hour. The first luxury sedan to be fitted with a 10-speed automatic transmission system, Lexus promises that the new 2018 Lexus LS deliver the prowess of a car with dual-clutch transmissions. According to Lexus, the wide bandwidth afforded by ten closely spaced ratios is ideal for all forms of driving, helping to provide an optimal gear for all conditions. Whilst the exhaust system has been tuned to convey a more racy and authoritative tone, the cabin of the new 2018 Lexus LS is superbly tranquil, thanks to the new sound suppression methods that insulated the interior against external sounds. Chief Designer oichi Suga said: “The LS is the flagship of the Lexus brand. More than any other model, it embodies the history and image of Lexus and serves as a symbol for everything the brand stands for.” Taking full advantage of its lower profile and longer wheelbase, Lexus designers gave the new 2018 Lexus LS a more stretched and ground-hugging appearance. If you compare to its precedecessor, the new 2018 Lexus LS is about .6 inches lower, while the hood and trunk are also 1.2 inches and 1.6 inches lower, respectively. There are several other firsts in this new platform. The new 2018 Lexus LS is the first sedan to incorporate a six-side window design. It is also the first sedan that features the smooth integration of flush-surface windows with the side pillar. To preserve adequate headroom with the lower profile, the new 2018 Lexus LS is built with an outer slide-type moon roof. The new 2018 Lexus LS offers five distinct wheel designs. The 20-inch premium wheels give off a brilliant appearance created using an electroplating technique known as sputtering. All but one of the wheel designs feature a hollow rim structure that helps reduce the resonance sound generated by the tires. Paintwork for the new 2018 Lexus LS is exceptional. Designers developed two new colors specifically to showcase the bodylines (availability will vary by market). Manganese Luster adds a highly reflective layer of paint on a base coat with muted brightness as a way of highlighting the shine and expressing a dramatic play of bright and dark, light and shadow. Sonic Agate is a passionate red, but with a deep, rich tone that also expresses dignity and prestige. Driven by the Japanese culture of attending to the smallest details, the new 2018 Lexus LS is probably a premium work of art. The seats are fitted with with Shiatsu massage, which are part of a wider rear seat luxury package. In addition, the seat behind the front passenger in this optional package can be reclined up to 48 degrees, and can be raised up to 24 degrees to facilitate the ease of climbing in and out for the rear-seat passengers. Trim elements are aplenty in the new 2018 Lexus LS. To maximise comfort, the car's Active Noise Control can quieten the cabin further by eradicating certain frequencies with the use of antiphase sound. The new 2018 Lexus LS does not compromise on safety. Featuring the Lexus Safety System+, the new 2018 Lexus LS will automatically brake and steer around the person if a pedestrian is detected in its lane.
