Support motorsports, Singapore brands urged

Singapore – Sports Republique is seeking sponsors to cover the US$8 to 10 million necessary for Team Singapore to compete in the upcoming A1 Grand Prix – The World Cup of Motorsport. UP Brandbuzz has been appointed to handle creative and media duties to promote Team Singapore, while Sports Republique will manage the team. The race starts on 1 October this year, and Team Singapore – comprising Formula 2000 Champion (2002) Denis Lian and Formula BMW Asia Driver, Hafiz Koh (pictured) – will compete in 13 races in cities such as Amsterdam, Beijing, Brno (Czech Republic), Dubai, Durban, Jakarta, Kuala Lumpur, London, Mexico City, Sydney, Shanghai and Wellington.

25 countries are expected to attend the A1 Grand Prix, including established racing countries like USA, UK, Australia, Brazil, France, Germany and challenger nations like China, Canada, Indonesia, Malaysia.

“SMSA is extremely proud of Singapore’s entry to the A1 GP. We have an ideal partnership between Denis, who possesses the skills and experience in international races, and Hafiz who has shown his qualities and potential in motor racing,” Tan Teng Lip, President, Singapore Motorsport Association (SMSA) said. The SMSA is endorsing the event together with the Singapore Sports Council.

A1GP World Cup of Motorsport is a global motorsport competition that pits country against country with national drivers racing in equal machinery which is a Lola V8 engine racing car.

The past events saw 84 million worldwide viewers watch A1GP on 37 networks in 120 countries -- 47 million viewers came from Asia alone –and achieved an average live audience per race of 7.6 million viewers
