What exactly is a smart #1?

The smart #1, the first model in the brand's all-electric portfolio, is a compact SUV designed with contemporary mobility in mind. Its unique architecture creates a spacious cabin. The interior is characterised by movable rear seats for customisable legroom. Distinctive design elements, including ambient lights and a floating centre console enhance the overall experience of the smart #1.

It’s the result of the Mercedes-Benz Design Studio team's efforts. Emphasising the themes of love, pure and unexpected, the vehicle features frameless doors and a floating halo roof. The incorporation of seamless glass treatment reflects the new premium standard set by smart. Oh, it must be mentioned that it shares Geely’s scalable architecture with the Volvo EX30 and Zeekr X, which makes visual differentiation that much more challenging (and impressive given how cool this looks).

Smart Automobile Co., Ltd. is a 50/50 joint venture between Mercedes-Benz AG and Geely Automobile Group Co., Ltd., formed in 2019. The collaboration aims to make smart a leading provider of premium EVs. Mercedes-Benz contributes to the design, while smart conducts R&D in China. The production and supply network of Geely Group in China is utilised. Smart's global HQs are in Hangzhou Bay, Ningbo, with operational sales functions in China and Europe.
