SG: Visa Cards no longer accepted on Trans Cab Taxis

Earlier this year, Visa withdrew the option of payment through the use of their cards from ComfortDelGro's taxis as the company refused to waive the surcharge. Now it seems that another taxi operator would soon join them. From the 15th of July, Visa cards will no longer be accepted at all TransCab taxis in Singapore due to the company's unwillingness to lift its10 percent surcharge on fares paid via Visa payment cards. The spate of withdrawals was made by the folks at Visa themselves; Visa wanted to uphold its "no surcharge protection policy", which protects cardholders from paying additional fees for Visa usage.

That said, this may not be the last time we will see Visa onboard these cabs. A spokesperson for Visa has said that should the cab companies opt to have Visa again, the chaps over at Visa would be more than happy to work with them again.
