The NEA has released a statement announcing its plan to roll out a new emission standard, the Euro VI, for petrol vehicles. The new regulation aims to further reduce NOx and fine particulate emissions, in particular the PM2.5 from vehicular emissions. This move is in line with the National Environment Agency’s (NEA) efforts to further improve our ambient air quality by regulating vehicular emissions.

Euro VI is the latest engine emission standards set by the European Union (EU). The EU’s vehicular emission standards impose strict rules on exhaust emissions of new vehicles sold in EU member states.

In addition, as an alternative to the Euro VI, NEA will also accept petrol vehicles that have achieved the Japanese emission standards (JPN 2009) as it is equivalent to Euro VI standards.
