SG: Taxi drivers protest new queueing system

A new segregated queueing system has drawn the ire of taxi drivers, so much so that a huge number of them have gathered outside Changi Airport's Terminal 1 in the early hours of Tuesday to protest against it. No official numbers have been released, but according to one source, up to 400 cabs gathered between 1:00am and 2:00am. Some others said only 50 taxis were involved. The unhappiness stems from the new queue system, which separates commuters who would like to hire a regular cab from those wanting to ride in a want a premium cab, which are more expensive. The police have been notified and are aware of the incident. Based on the response from the taxi drivers, insiders believe the segregated queues will be scrapped soon.Pictures used for illustration purposes only.
