SG: Stamford Tyres Opens Singapore’s Largest Tyre Commercial Centre To Support Regional Operations

Stamford Tyres Corporation Limited announced the opening of its new Stamford Tyres Commercial Centre in Jurong, reinforcing its status as Singapore's largest independent tyre and wheel distributor. The S$25 million centre which houses a tyre warehouse, truck tyre centre and tyre retreading plant will provide support for its expanding total tyre management business in the South East Asia region. Mr Wee Kok Wah, President of Stamford Tyres Corporation Limited said, “With the opening of the Commercial Centre, Stamford Tyres will be able to support the Group’s international exports of proprietary brand tyres and wheels to countries such as Russia, United Kingdom, United Arab Emirates, Canada, Ecuador, and Tanzania. This will certainly benefit the local dealers who will now enjoy greater flexibility in distributing a mix of different types of tyres according to their customers’ needs."

With a gross floor area of 22,591sq.m, the Stamford Tyres Commercial Centre also incorporates the Jurong Truck Centre (JTC) which is able to accommodate 6 service bays for trucks and 8 loading/unloading container bays. This will expedite the operational process greatly.

Installed with the highest double-deep racking(12.5m) is Singapore, Stamford Tyres can now store over a million tyres of all sizes(600,000 tyres in this new Commercial Centre and 400,000 tyres at its existing premises). Its total pallet space can hold 45,000 pallets. This new Commercial Centre will provide value-added sales and just-in-time distribution support to its network of overseas offices and export customers.

Currently, the Stamford Tyres distribution centers spans more than 10 countries worldwide mainly in South East Asia, Australia, India and Africa. Its export network for proprietary brand tyres and wheels spans more than 90 countries including Eastern Europe, Western Europe, Africa, Latin America and the Middle East.

The JTC which has 6 truck service bays and 1 wheel alignment bay, provides comprehensive tyres services which include tyre change and repair, tyre wheel balancing, truck wheel alignment and retread services. In addition to providing 10 units of 24/7 Mobile Tyre Recovery service, it also offers an array of premium truck tyre brands.

Singapore Port of Authority (PSA), SMRT (public bus operator), Colex (waste management) and SBS Transit (public bus operator) are some of the centre’s customers. The centre offers a Total Tyre Management Program which includes long term tyre leasing contract to large end users. Called the 3 life tyre value users can enjoy 1 new tyre and 2 retreads. JTC has also extended services to mining companies across borders to offer Total Tyre Management services on-site. The commercial centre also offers a Conti Tread Program, a collaboration with Continental, which provides similar life-support to a brand new tyre. Apart from its re-treading capability of 1,700 tyres per month, Stamford Tyres also helps to recycle worn tyres by extending their lifespans.
