SG: No definitive cause found yet for NSEWL breakdown
Despite conducting numerous rounds of system checks, LTA and SMRT engineers have failed to accurately pinpoint the exact cause of the breakdown. Trains were checked over visually, and other components, such as the insulation between the cables and third rail were tested. This was done to ensure that the test components of the power supply equipment are in good working order. Data loggers which monitor the running rail voltage have been fitted at specific points on the lines. As the combined team failed in finding the root cause of the problem, an independent consultant will be engaged to look into the overall conditional assessment of the entire power supply infrastructure and other railway trackside installations. Expect the assessment to start as soon as this month once the appropriate consultants have been brought onboard. Pictures used for illustration purposes only.
