SG Motorshow: All-new Mazda 2 Launched
Toyota Vios, be very afraid. Mazda rolled out their all-new baby Mazda 2 at the Motorshow last week, and from the looks of things, the new baby Mazda will put up a very strong fight against the Vios, a local favourite in the small family car segment.
The latest Mazda 2 features Mazda’s famed Kodo design language, with its smooth flowing contours and forward inclined lines, and the Skyactiv Technology with i-Stop (stop-start technology).
Its chassis is based on their own CX-5, and features a 1.5-litre, 115hp powerplant good for a 10-second centry sprint, and an astonishing claimed consumption of 5.1L/100km.
Inside, the new Mazda 2 is a big departure from its predecessor. The funky looking circle-themed centre console of the previous Mazda 2 is replaced with a clean and upmarket theme found in the latest car, which features an uncluttered centre console and a central infotainment screen, known as MZD Connect.
Priced from $122,800, the new Mazda 2, with the 2014-2015 Japanese Car of the Year award under its belt, looks to be a very competent contender in its segment.
