SG: Motorist to pay insurer for not reporting accident

A motorist will have to pay her insurer $54,000 after failing to report a $200 fine for running over a pedestrian. According to the motorist, Ms Joanne Ho, she failed to report the fine for she assumed that she did not have to inform her insurer about it. The court has made it clear that motorists may end up paying for any damages to the victim should they fail to alert their insurers of fines. She now has to pay both compensation to the pedestrian and legal costs to her insurer for her lapse in reporting the incident meant that her insurer could not have figured out if an early settlement would reduce the amount she has to fork out.Pictures used for illustration purposes only.
