SG: More pleasant journeys on DTL

SG: More pleasant journeys on DTL

Six MRT stations that spawn from Chinatown to Bugis will form the first stage of the 35 station long Downtown Line. The  stations will be opened on the 22nd of December this year, and commuters would be able to travel for free for 11 days until the 1st of January 2014. This period of free travel enables commuters to replan and remap their routes. That isn’t the only new idea incorporated into the new MRT line; the PTC has redone the fare structure for the new MRT line to follow that of the North-East and Circle lines. Also, this line will serve as a test bed for future implementations that are aimed to make commuters’ journeys more comfortable; new types of queue lines will be drawn to allow passengers to enter the train in a more orderly manner. Telok Ayer and Promenade will have lines parallel to the platform doors, whereas  Chinatown, Dowtown, Bayfront and Bugis stations will have wider queue lines.Pictures used for illustration purposes only.
