SG: More big car COEs
It is predicted that the supply of big car COEs will exceed the supply of their smaller counterparts from as early as Q1 2015. Oddly, this is the very first time the pattern has been reversed since the introduction of the system in 1990. Normally, one in every 6 COEs issued would go to a big car. However, with the rich getting richer, they are able to outbid and out-buy COEs in the Open Category, typically used to register larger vehicles, which in turn, enables more old large cars to be scrapped, which increases the supply of the Cat B COEs. In 2000, the ratio of small cars to larger ones is 2.3 to one. Now though, the ratio is almost one to one.Pictures used for illustration purposes only.
