The competition is a joint initiative between Motor Image Enterprises and MediaCorp and it brings together a total 400 contestants which include 310 local participants and 90 regional participants from Cambodia, China, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines, Taiwan, Thailand and Vietnam.
To qualify for this Challenge, the 90 regional contestants will complete a series of rigorous endurance tests organized by Motor Image in their respective markets. 10 from each region will represent their home to take part in this final face-off in Singapore.
“The MediaCorp Subaru Challenge has continually evolved over the years”, said Mr Glenn Tan, Executive Director, Tan Chong International Limited. “This is one of the reasons it’s kept its place among the annual highlights in Singapore’s event calendar. As we mark the 12th year in 2013, the challenge has become tougher, more interesting and even more fun so look out for new twists and bigger rewards.”
In addition to being eligible for the grand prize, regional contestants will also compete for additional titles and cash prizes. The title of ”Country Winner" and a cash prize of S$1,000 will be awarded to the final standing representative of each participating market. The last standing regional contestant will win the "Asian Winner" title and walk away with an additional S$5,000 cash. The country or region whose participants have the longest combined standing time, will be awarded the" Country Team Winner" title along with a cash prize of S$10,000 to be equally divided among the team.
To mark the 12thyear of the Challenge, attractive prizes will be given away once every 12 hours during the competition. This additional element will see contestants being rewarded throughout the competition through lucky dips.
All 400 contestants will give their best to outlast each other by placing their right palms firmly within the surface area of the palm decals with a 5-minute break once every 6 hours - at 1pm, 7pm, 1am and 7am given to them throughout the competition.
