SG: Maserati's First Ever Racing Yacht in Singapore
The Maserati Soldini Racing Yacht made its debut in Singapore for the first time after casting off from Hong Kong six days ago, transporting luxury from the roads to the high seas. Participating in the ongoing Transpac Race 2013, from Cadiz to San Salvador (Bahamas) and Miami to New York, he crew of the luxurious racing yacht are hoping to break records with their timings in each voyage they take part in. The yacht chosen for this challenge is the VOR 70 Maserati. An engineering milestone at just over 20 meters, the yacht has been designed to become the world's fastest monohull with a carbon mast of over 30 meters, a canting keel, water ballast, canards, sleekly elegant waterlines and a composite construction.
The Maserati Soldini Yacht clinched an extraordinary new record among others in the open seas by covering the distance between New York City and San Francisco, through the Cape Horn and around the Americas in just 47 days, 42 minutes and 29 seconds. The crew consisted of experienced yachtsmen led by the world renowned Giovanni Soldini. The honor of sailing through the legendary "Golden Route" now belongs to the brave Italian sailor and to Maserati.
While forging its way through the ocean, Maserati has also engineered a creation adding to their flagship of luxury automobiles – the Maserati Quattroporte GTS which was first launched in March 2013. The Maserati Quattroporte GTS is much lighter and luxurious than its predecessor. With a top speed of up to 370km/hr, the sixth-generation Quattroporte is a leap forward, with the use of the latest advancements in technology for the upcoming new model, while remaining faithful to Maserati’s long history in its luxury product range.
“My team and I are excited to be here in Singapore to showcase the latest developments adding to the class and sophistication that are synonymous with Maserati,” says Giovanni Soldini, Skipper of the Maserati Soldini Yacht. “Having to race against time to beat the record timings of each voyage is something that I look forward to; it is a feat that could only have been achieved through the perfect balance of reliable team and engineering offered by Maserati.”
Giovanni and his international team are set to sail to Cape Town, South Africa on 5 November 2013 for their next leg of race.
