SG: LTA awards more 5 City Direct contracts to private bus operators

As part of the Bus Service Enhancement Programme (BSEP), the LTA has awarded contracts for five more City Direct Services to two private bus operators (PBOs). The 5 new services will join the services already launched in the past 2 years, with up to another 5 on the cards to be added before the end of this year. Come 2016, there will be 20 City Direct Services. The five new services will operate from Marsiling/Woodlands, Pasir Ris, Tampines East/Simei, Yew Tee, and Yishun to the Central Business District (CBD) during the morning peak hours and from the CBD during the evening peak hours. These services will be launched progressively from September 2015. As the buses ply the expressways, journey times for City Direct Services will be comparable to that of taking a bus or LRT and transferring to the MRT into the city.
