SG: Less caught parking illegally after CCTV installation

LTA installed CCTVs in 30 locations in 2014 to deter motorists from parking illegally. These cameras, which operate 24 hours daily, help to enforce parking rules along roads that suffer from obstruction as a result of indiscriminately parked vehicles.   Since the install, less are indiscriminately parking their vehicles, and as a result, there has been a significant improvement in traffic conditions at these locations. The scheme will be expanded to cover an additional 40 locations in Q1 of 2015. To alert motorists to the presence of enforcement cameras, CCTV monitoring zones are clearly demarcated by parking restriction lines and signs. Available lamp posts and sign posts within the zones are also painted with a vertical strip in bright orange colour.Pictures used for illustration purposes only.
