SG: Launch of The New Porsche 911 GT3 and 911 Turbo S in Singapore

Porsche launched the new 911 GT3, 911 Turbo and 911 Turbo S at Porsche Centre Singapore on 17th January 2014.  Timo Bernhard, one of the drivers representing Porsche at the World Endurance Championship (WEC) and 24 Hours of Le Mans this year, also made a special guest appearance at the launch. The fifth-generation 911 GT3 that was unveiled that evening is a race car developed to offer powerful sporty driving dynamism and an even more refined and emotional driving experience.  The new GT3 features an entirely redeveloped engine that is based on the six-cylinder currently used in the 911 generation Carrera.  The classical six-cylinder naturally-aspirated engine has direct fuel injection for the first time ever in a 911.  Structural changes made to the base engine ensure the further development of the characteristic high-revving concept in the GT3, thus delivering a sporty driving experience in every condition.

“Since 1963, the 911 has been the absolute cornerstone of the Porsche brand. It represents all that Porsche stands for—exhilarating high-performance driving brought to life in roadworthy cars for your everyday enjoyment. The new 911 GT3 delivers those very qualities at an even higher level than ever before, making it possible for you to enjoy the race car driving experience everyday on the city roads,” said Karsono Kwee, Executive Chairman of Eurokars Group.

Meanwhile, the new 911 Turbo and Turbo S are the most powerful members of the 991 series, lifting the Porsche model range to greater heights. The 3.8 litre bi-turbo flat-six engine at the heart of the new 911 Turbo delivers a power increase of 30 hp while still managing to reduce fuel consumption by 15%. Active rear-axle steering increases performance, efficiency and suitability for daily use. The new generation 911 Turbo and Turbo S are the fitting pinnacle of the 911 model range and its principle philosophy, the benchmark for all that Porsche has to offer.

“Four decades after the 911 Turbo was first unveiled to the world, Porsche is presenting the new generation Turbo and Turbo S—the firm peak of the technological and dynamic performance of the 911 series. With the new 911 Turbo and Turbo S, Porsche continues to powerfully redefine the existing boundaries of what you can enjoy in a sports car for everyday use. Few other cars in the world can look back on the legendary tradition that the 911 possesses, and these latest additions to the 911 model range go a long way in extending that very tradition into the future of automobiles,” said Karsono Kwee, Executive Chairman of Eurokars Group.

Retail prices of the new 911 GT3, 911 Turbo and 911 Turbo S: 911 GT3 starts from SGD 633,688; 911 Turbo starts from SGD 716,288 and 911 Turbo S starts from SGD 849,388.
