SG: Koenigsegg Agera S launched! (with video coverage)

Costing a whopping S$5.3million, the Agera S is not only the most expensive car to ever grace Singaporean roads, it is also the most powerful. Launched in Singapore on the 14th of June 2013 at the Ritz Carlton Hotel, the Swedish Supercar packs Koenigsegg’s 5 litre twin turbocharged V8 that pushes out 1030 bhp. That, plus a lightweight shell and huge power output, makes it the fastest car on our local roads too; its 0-100km/h may be a relatively brisk 2.9 seconds, and its 0-200km/h is even faster and more impressive.

Unlike its rivals that accelerate a lot less slowly after crossing the 100km/h mark, the Agera S continues accelerating at a more or less even pace to 200km/h, completing the sprint in just 7.8 secs. However, the Agera S’ performance goes beyond brute acceleration. With such impressive performance figures, the brakes have to be up to scratch to. The Agera S’ more eco-friendly brother, the Agera R, currently holds the 0-300-0 record, which proves that the brakes on the S are more than ample.

So what does all this mean? A stiff chassis, huge power and good brakes, along with Koenigsegg’s triplex suspension means that the car should be a good performer on track too. However, this isn’t an outright racing car. Koenigsegg has engineered the car to be a capable on road car too; a minimalist but high quality interior beckons you to enter the cabin, while a large boot ensures you have ample cargo space. This theoretically means that the Agera S is the best super/hypercar for quick trips to the supermarket.

The only thing that may deter you from using the car as a mode of transport to the shops would be the cost. The Agera S is the most expensive car ever to be registered for Singaporean roads, costing a cool 5.3 million dollars. Let’s be honest as well, the car isn’t what you would call ‘economical’ ;it uses 14.2 litres of fuel for every 100 km travelled. Still, for all the power you get, that is an impressive figure.
