SG: Euro 6 to be introduced

SG: Euro 6 to be introduced

In a bid to keep the emissions down, Singapore will introduce the strict Euro 6 emission standards for both petrol and diesel powered vehicles by as early as 2017. This should make Singapore the first nation in South East Asia to adopt the strictest emission regulations. Currently, the standards are Euro 4 for petrol, and Euro 5 for diesel. This comes after newer high compression engines have been found to produce more ultra-fine particulates that makes up the majority of the emissions. These particles are very small and light. It is hoped that with the introduction of Euro 6, both the concentration of these particulates and of Nitrogen Oxides are significantly reduced. No confirmation has been made when it comes to the date of introduction, although many believe it will be rolled out in the second half of 2017.Pictures used for illustration purposes only.
