SG: Driver who charged through checkpoint arrested

A Mercedes Benz W124 E class was caught on CCTV cameras charging through Woodlands Checkpoint. The video, which was then leaked onto various social media sites has since gone viral. The driver of the Singapore-registered Mercedes was arrested eventually, thanks to the help of the public as a result of the increased exposure. The 65 year old man was arrested and the car recovered at 8:30pm, almost 4 and a half hours after the incident occurred. A police officer was hurt in the incident. Shortly after the accident occurred, information of the car was sent to cabs islandwide in a bid to help more effectively track down the car. The driver is being investigated for various offences, such as evasion of custom checks and vandalism. Pictures used for illustration purposes only.
