SG: Drink driving a factor in Labour Day ECP crash
A Golf travelling at over 100 km/h crashed and killed its occupants on Labour Day. After months of investigations, it has been concluded that the cause of the fatal impact was attributed to the high concentration of alcohol in the driver’s blood; it is estimated that he has more than twice the legal limit of ethanol in his blood. The drink driving, coupled with the late swerve across the ECP to access a slip road, saw the golf mount a kerb, launch into the air, crashing through the guard railing, flipping over, before it hit a tree and landed back on its wheels. Both front occupants were pronounced dead 40 minutes after the impact.
