SG: Cycling a viable mode of transport

According to National Development Minister Khaw Boon Wan, cycling can be a viable mode of transport. He not only believes it can be a viable mode of transport, he’s pushing for it as well. Citing examples from bicycle friendly cities such as Amsterdam and Copenhagen, he believes that authorities will have to ensure that such trips are safe and pleasant to attract more to cycle. Currently, cycling is only one to two percent of transport modes in Singapore. Part of the plan to ensure cyclists are safe, a 700km cycling network will be built by 2030 to connect various neighbourhoods. Pictures used for illustration purposes only.
