SG: Construction of North-South Expressway delayed

The LTA initially scheduled groundbreaking works for the North-South Expressway to begin in 2015. However, due to the complexity of the project, more engineering studies will have to be conducted, and as such, construction is likely to begin next year instead. After the studies have been completed, the LTA will need at least 6 months to call for a tender for the construction of the highway. The NSE will span 21km, and part of it will be underground. The project is estimated to cost $8 billion, and will provide residents of Upper Thomson a direct link to the city. The NSE should also help to ease traffic loads on the CTE when it is completed. Construction is scheduled for completion in 2020.Pictures used for illustration purposes only.
