SG: 75,000 vehicles affected by airbag recall

Takata has been embroiled in a spate of international recalls from the end of 2013, and it seems as though several affected airbags have found their way into local market cars. Based on estimates, about 75,000 vehicles are affected by the recall locally. The airbags have caused multiple fatalities internationally, including one in Malaysia, and caused at least 100 injuries. The LTA has said that dealerships here are still figuring out the number of vehicles affected in Singapore. The bulk of the cars are Hondas and Toyotas, with several BMW models fitted with the faulty airbags as well. However, as the bulk of the cars have been built from 2001 to 2007, the majority of them have already been taken off the road. That said, for those that still are on the road, replacement parts have started to come in from Takata. 37,000 Toyotas made between 2001 and 2007, 32,000 Hondas, 4,600 Subarus and 4,000 Nissans, and  several thousand BMW 3-series models are affected Pictures used for illustration purposes only.
