Model Year 2022 (MY22) Morgan Plus Six has arrived in Singapore. It has built a long-standing relationship with BMW, adopting its 3.0-litre TwinPower Turbo engine to power the Plus Six, churning out 335 bhp and 500 Nm of torque. Unfortunately for “hardcore” petrolheads, this variant will only arrive with an eight-speed automatic with paddle shifters. But we reckon this engine / gearbox alliance should still supply an emotional, engaging driving experience.

A new hood design for the latest Plus Six is designed to improve usability, weather protection, and refinement. This has been achieved through a revised frame structure that eliminates the requirement for hood rail fasteners, and an enhanced seal package around door and sidescreen closures. These changes bring an improvement in speed and ease of hood operation, cabin noise insulation and weather protection. And if you are one who drives primarily with the hood down, it might be wise to select the optional sports exhaust system with active bypass valves that activates in Sport mode.

The MY22 update also sees the first usage of Morgan’s redesigned ‘wings badge’ on a vehicle. The logo has received its first update in more than a decade, and the change comes as part of Morgan’s wider brand identity refresh. The badge is complemented by a lower intake mesh that can now be specified with a black finish to match the optional black upper grille mesh. These visual updates are well justified in a potent, fairly lightweight machine (1,160kg dry weight) that can sprint to 100km/h in 4.2 seconds.

In the cabin showered with hand-trimmed leather interior, a new lockable storage compartment is now available as an option on Plus Six, fitted to the rear of the luggage compartment. It comes with a couple of practical tech features, too. Two dual USB outlets come as standard, along with Bluetooth audio connectivity.

The Plus Six specced for the Singapore market is priced at S$430,888 without COE, and includes automatic LED front and rear lighting and ABS, along with creature comforts such as remote central locking and air-conditioning (Yes, there are customers who opt for Morgans without air-conditioning to keep it as featherweight / track-ready as possible!)
