The Lexus Showcase features a new design architecture in conjunction with the launch of the new Lexus global brand promise of "Experience Amazing". The new design reflects the Lexus brand’s personality and design language, and aims to immerse visitors into the world of Lexus. Design concept inspired by the Japanese garden, the iconic element of the scenography is a three dimensional landscape made of various materials and layered aerial screens that characterise every zone. The layout encourages visitors to find their own path, and gradually discover new things about Lexus throughout their journey.

The Lexus Showcase also give the public a sneak peek at the All-New Lexus LS, a car yet to be officially launched in Singapore. Upended its category 28 years ago, the new fifth-generation LS flagship sedan that symbolises the Lexus brand will continue to set precedence and go beyond what the world expects from a luxury vehicle.

“It has been an extremely exciting year for Lexus in 2017 as we continue our journey beyond luxury automotive brand to become a luxury lifestyle brand with the goal to deliver truly amazing experiences to our owners and guests. The Lexus showcase that you are experiencing today is a living example of that ambition. This motor show stand design, executed around the world beginning in Detroit last year, is an invitation to take your own journey through the Lexus brand and our vehicles.” said David Nordstrom, Vice President, Lexus Asia Pacific.

“Lexus Singapore is glad to be back again here at the Singapore Motorshow 2018. Coming into the fourth year of participation, we are excited as we unveil the new Lexus NX today, which will continue to play a core role for Lexus in appealing to a younger generation of luxury customers seeking cars that go beyond just transportation, but as an expression of their individuality and personality. In a month’s time, we also look forward to the official launch of the flagship LS sedan where invited guests will immerse in an experiential event that reflects the Lexus YET philosophy. The event will turn seemingly conflicting ideas into harmonious coexistence through different lifestyle interpretations, creating amazing experiences.” said Jasmmine Wong, Managing Director, Borneo Motors Singapore.

Since its launch three years ago, the Lexus NX, urban compact SUV of the Lexus lineup, has exceeded expectations globally with its stylish design yet sports car-like agility in an SUV, delivering a balanced confident driving dynamics and an unprecedented driving feel. With the new NX, Lexus will continue to meet the needs of discerning luxury customers.

1. THE NEW LEXUS NX DONNING ON A REFRESHED AND SHARPER LOOK

Bold New Exteriors:

Styling Refinements Making a bold design statement for the car’s exterior, the entire front fascia of the new NX has been refreshed, resulting in a sleeker overall shape and excellent aerodynamics. The new NX’s headlamps with triple projectors, similar to those equipped on the LC luxury coupe, presents the car with an even sportier aesthetic.

The rear of the new NX has also been refreshed with elongated taillamps and larger chrome-tipped exhaust tips that are integrated into the vehicle’s revised bumper cover design along with a new rear underbody spoiler. These exterior improvements further enhance the sports car-like agility in an SUV. For the NX Hybrid, a slotted sectional piece with an L-shaped satin chrome border blends flawlessly into the underbody spoiler.

Intuitive Interior: A True Driver’s Environment with Added Convenience

Enhancements are also evident in the interior of the NX with enhanced control interfaces. Immediately noticeable is the increased size of 10.3-inches display on the centre dashboard. The design of the centre cluster control panel has also been dramatically simplified, with easy-to-operate toggle switches adorned with many tiny “L” motif on their surface. The centre console, featuring the remote touch interface pad, has been enlarged and redesigned for easier operation, and the palm rest has been reshaped for maximum wrist comfort. The wireless charger tray has also increased in size to accommodate larger smart phones.

Finally, the new NX adds the convenience of a hands-free power tailgate with kick boot sensor — placing or kicking up a foot towards a sensor beneath the rear-bumper cover will open or close the electrically-powered rear door.

Superb Performance with Enhanced Handling

Powering the NX 300, the turbocharged 2.0-litre inline-4 offers three variants namely the Executive, Luxury & F SPORT grades, while the NX 300h drivetrain will continue with a 2.5-litre inline-4 that is available in Executive and Luxury grades. Both drivetrains offer a richer, sportier engine sound and exhaust note that is reproduced through the speakers by Lexus’ Active Sound Control (ASC).

While the NX’s straight-line performance will essentially remain the same, significant improvements have been made to the vehicle’s suspension tuning to enhance ride and handling. The springs, stabiliser bars and bushings have been retuned for improved turn-in response and steady-state cornering. Also, new shock absorbers improve the quality of the NX’s already smooth ride. But the biggest enhancement to the NX’s chassis is the Adaptive Variable Suspension (AVS), now based on the advanced system found in the LC500.

The new NX also features reduced noise, vibration and harshness (NVH), thanks to a combination of suspension tuning and the addition of strategically placed sound deadening within the vehicle’s body.

2. NATURE’S BRILLIANCE CAPTURED – NEW LEXUS STRUCTURAL BLUE

Offered only in strictly limited units, the LC Structural Blue Edition is the choice of connoisseurs who recognise and value both the application of advanced technologies and the highest standards of Lexus’ Takumi craftsmanship. The car is a testament to Lexus’ painstaking research into how technology can produce a finish that is deeper, more lustrous and, essentially more “blue” than anything seen before. The colour, exclusive to Lexus, was developed by Lexus’ research team who studied nature and the structure of the blue Morpho butterfly’s wings to determine how a similar iridescent effect could be achieved with vehicle paint.

Inspired by Nature and the Morpho butterfly

Engineers worked with the basic principles of light to create a special colour effect — a shade of blue that appears bluer than any pigment thought possible. The team drew inspiration from nature and the keen observation of the Morpho butterfly. Native to North and South America, this butterfly is renowned for the deep, shimmering blue of its wings, which are in fact colourless. The blue seen is created by light interference on the microscopic lattice surface structure of the wings.

The pigment used to produce the new paint features a production process taking 8 months, including 12 production steps and 20 quality inspections. Only two units of the LC Structural Blue Edition can be produced in a working day at Lexus’ Motomachi factory – the high-technology home of the LC where the LFA was built. The advanced technology that creates this effect is the culmination of over 15 years of research and development work by a close collaboration of scientists, engineers, designers and paint experts.

LC Structural Blue Edition

Form is definitely not completed without function. The exquisite quality of the paintwork is matched by two superior powertrains for the new LC Structural Blue Edition, available in LC 500 – 5.0-litre naturally-aspirated V8 engine and LC Hybrid – 3.5-litre V6 engine with new Multi Stage Hybrid System.

Exclusively only on the LC Structural Blue Edition, the cabin is presented in the LC’s Breezy Blue colour combination – Featuring the mid-blue semi-aniline leather upper door trims, steering wheel, instrument panel and centre armrest, contrasted with white fine leather seat upholstery and a pop of vivid orange for the shift lever surround and the draped Alcantara door panels.
