Refreshed Mercedes-Benz E-Class Now in Singapore, Prices Begin at $271,888

The Mercedes-Benz E-Class gets a mid-life refresh, just in-time for 2021. The Executive Sedan, which has been the staple for many a towkay here, not only receives an extensive reworking of its styling, but now features numerous technical enhancements for an improved driving experience. “We’re very excited to show you the updates we made to the aesthetics and the spirit of what an E-Class strives to be for the Singaporean car owner,” said Mr Claudius Steinhoff, President and CEO, Mercedes-Benz Singapore. “With this new E-Class, we’ve made vast improvements on a vehicle that was already at the pinnacle of success. It is now even more innovative, more technological, and more intelligent than it ever was before, and is set to invigorate our local luxury sedan segment,” he added. The redesign includes new full LED headlamps as standard equipment, and Mercedes-Benz also offers MULTIBEAM LEDs as an option. A reworked front end with greater use of chrome plays a large role in the E-Class’ fresh appearance, with the Avantgarde Line features a redesigned grille with twin chrome louvres, and pronounced vertical high-gloss struts, while the higher-spec Exclusive Line receives large chrome elements on its front bumper, and the signature upright star on the bonnet. The AMG Line E-Class takes inspiration from the AMG Performance models, with AMG kitting, and twin powerdomes on the bonnet… for more visual power. The rear end has a new bumper, split tail lamps and a fully redesigned bootlid.

There are also three new colours you can choose from, high-tech silver, graphite grey metallic and mojave silver, and the wheel line has also been expanded with the addition of wind-cheating aero wheels.

On the inside, buyers can expect new colour combinations like magma grey/neva grey (Avantgarde), black/nut brown (Exclusive) and magma grey/macchiato beige (Exclusive), and trim in silver open-pore ash wood, fondant burr walnut wood, brushed aluminium and aluminium with a carbon grain.

Adding on to the comfortable seating arrangements, the E-Class boasts adaptive driver's seat adjustment; where your seating position can be adjusted based on height, with only fine tuning needed by its user. ENERGIZING seat kinetics, which reduces driving fatigue, which also is available on even the premium range of Mercedes-Benz models, makes its way into the E-Class.

There is even more you can look forward to, in the form of two large 12.3” digital displays, one, which functions as the instrument panel, while the other, the infotainment touchscreen; featuring Mercedes-Benz’s MBUX with LINGUATRONIC voice control as standard.

The E-Class is also fitted with a list of standard and optional next-generation driving assistance systems, for improved safety and convenience. Features include Active Brake Assist, which autonomously brakes the car to prevent, or mitigate the severity of a collision. The system also works at city speeds, being able to brake for stationary vehicles and crossing pedestrians.

Active Parking Assist with PARKTRONIC and 360°, and for the the first time, the new E-Class is able to recognise and use parking spaces which are only marked as areas on larger sites. When leaving a parking space, the system is able to warn of traffic crossing behind the vehicle, and even apply the brakes if needed.

Also new, is the Active Distance Assist DISTRONIC with route-based speed adjustment, where it can respond to data from live traffic information, reducing its speed when a tailback is detected, long before the radar and camera sensors are able to.

Especially ideal for Singaporean traffic, where we commonly get into a tailback on the highway, the Active Stop-and-Go Assist can assist in keeping the E-Class in-lane, while maintaining a safe distance from the vehicle in-front.

For now, the refreshed E-Class is available with just one engine option. The Mercedes-Benz E200 is powered by a turbocharged 2.0, delivering 194hp and 320Nm, and is paired with their very own 9-speed automatic.

Avantgarde – $271,888
Exclusive – $280,888
