Porsche develops new V8 engine

Porsche showed off their new twin turbocharged V8 engine at the 37th International Vienna Motor Symposium a few days ago. As Porsche is now part of the VW-Audi  group, rumour has it that the engine will make its way into cars from all over the lineup, from the most basic of humdrum Audis, to the lavish and wild Lamborghini Urus. The first car which the engine will be initially mated to, is the 2017 Porsche Panamera. This engine makes 549bhp, which is about 21bhp less than the current the 4.8-liter twin-turbo V8 in the Panamera Turbo S. Unlike the outgoing V8, the new engine features cylinder deactivation, with provisions for future hybrid applications. It’s more fuel efficient too, and will come with either an 8-speed VW-Audi box, or a ZF double clutch 8 speed. Expect this gearbox and engine package to find its way into a Cayenne too.
