ORA Good Cat 03 Electric Lands In Singapore, And It's Yours For S$161,999

If you’ve been following Great Wall Motor’s business model, you’ll realise that it has been making rapid progress outside of China. China’s eighth largest automotive manufacturer has divisions such as Haval, Tank and ORA under its wing, and it doesn't seem to be resting on its laurels - it has become one of China’s largest PHEV manufacturers over the past couple of years, which points towards its ambition to electrify its fleet for mass market consumption.

We’ve already been informed earlier this year that ORA will be distributed by household name Cycle & Carriage in Singapore, thus it comes as no surprise that it has the know-how to make its arrival a talking point. At time of writing, regional media are driving a fleet of Good Cats from Thailand to Singapore over a span of seven days, which coincides with the local arrival of the “Good Cat 03 Electric” - a naming that differs from other markets. “The Malaysian and Thai market refer to it simply as “Good Cat”, while UK-spec cars are called “Funky Cat”.

So what exactly is the Good Cat, and why has it been a hit in other markets? We only need to focus on its visual cues to understand why it aces in this aspect. It’s designed by former Porsche designer Emanuel Derta, featuring a "Retro Futuristic" concept. Initial impressions might swing towards a VW Beetle or MINI Cooper-style front end. Some might even harbour misgivings about its overall looks. But with funky colour schemes on offer, we can’t fault its intent to provide more quirky alternatives in the EV sphere.

Passengers experience a comfortable and stylish cabin inside the ORA Good Cat 03 Electric. The driver's ventilated seat with massage function will come as standard, along with a memory feature and “Welcome Seat” function that automatically adjusts the seat to the driver's preferred position.

Safety is a top priority for ORA, and the Good Cat 03 Electric is equipped with advanced safety features that prioritise the well-being of both drivers and pedestrians. These features include Forward Collision Warning with Braking Assist, Pedestrian/Bicycle Detection, Lane Departure Warning, Lane Keep Assist, and Intelligent Evade functions, offering an extra layer of protection during critical situations.

The car also boasts a 360-degree View Camera with a “transparent” chassis to enhance parking and maneuvering, reducing blind spots and providing a bird’s eye view of surroundings. A panoramic sunroof, LED headlights and Auto Parking system further elevate the experience, providing good visibility without compromising on usability.

Under the “hood”, the Good Cat 03 Electric features a 63kWh battery pack, offering a range of up to 420km on a single charge. The 105kW motor that produces 210Nm of torque qualifies for a lower-priced Cat A COE in Singapore, and should provide an appealing alternative for car shoppers that already have the BYD Dolphin and MG4 in sight..
