One Year Of Innovation At Hyundai Motor Group Innovation Center Singapore

Hyundai Motor Group Innovation Center in Singapore (HMGICS) celebrated its first anniversary with a town hall event, which showcased key achievements and discussions with employees. Executive Chair Euisun Chung participated in the celebration to reinforce the Group’s vision and strategic direction.

The centre has advanced manufacturing technology, R&D, sales and customer experience, with a focus on cutting-edge mobility solutions. Key achievements include the adoption of a highly intelligent, automated cell-based production system utilising robotics, AI and digital twin technology, enhancing logistics and assembly processes. HMGICS is set to develop a production system to support various mobility solutions, including EVs, Purpose-Built Vehicles (PBVs), Advanced Air Mobility (AAM) and robotics.

Global impact

HMGICS is driving advancements in manufacturing technologies that will be adopted in factories worldwide, including Hyundai’s Metaplant in Georgia and its EV plant in Ulsan. Its efforts have already supported the local production of the IONIQ 5, Singapore’s first EV, and the IONIQ 6.

More than just selling cars

At HMGICS, there’s Discovery Tours, which include 3D virtual reality explorations of EV production, test rides on the Skytrack and visits to a two-story vertical smart farm. The smart farm supplies fresh produce to Na Oh, a seed-to-table Korean restaurant led by three-Michelin-Star Chef Corey Lee.

R&D-centric

HMGICS is actively involved in the local community by fostering talent and collaborating with research institutions and universities. In 2024, it increased its local workforce by 30%, with a focus on R&D and engineering roles. The center also works with local institutions to offer internships and learning experiences in advanced manufacturing and innovative technologies.
