Although response for Hyundai’s Ioniq 5 First 100 remained lukewarm at best with the accompanying charity auction, we have to praise its bold decision to gather attention via this unorthodox approach.

Now, it adopts a more traditional method - a pop-up campaign for the Ioniq 5 will be held at Ngee Ann City Civic Plaza from now to 21 May. The event is open from 11am to 9pm on weekdays and 10am to 9pm on weekends.

Visitors can request for a test drive of the Ioniq 5 along a city route, or book a test drive slot in advance. Those who register their interest at the pop-up will stand a chance to win an extended 3-day test drive with the Ioniq 5.

Visitors will be able to meet Spot, a robot dog that’s programmed to conduct quality inspections for all made-in-Singapore Ioniq 5 cars. We reckon that it’ll have huge responsibilities on its shoulders, given that Hyundai is aiming to be one of the most well-loved EV brands in Singapore.

It’ll have its work cut out too. Even though you can buy an Ioniq 5 for under S$200k, competition is formidable in this particular BEV segment, with the comparatively attractively-priced BYD Atto 3 and recently reviewed MG4 hot on its heels. But none boasts a made-in-Singapore tag, which should carry some weight in the decision making process, right?
