No injuries from severe lorry crash on PIE

A trailer carrying 4 bulky concrete slabs skidded off PIE and onto the opposite lane last Friday. According to information released by the police, the accident occurred just off the Eng Neo Avenue towards the PIE. The lorry was driving along Eng Neo Avenue when it skidded, going across the road and onto the opposite lane, somehow managing to miss a large tree before coming to rest in a ditch.

Eng Neo Avenue had to be closed in both directions to clear the wreckage. The workers first detached the truck’s cabin from its trailer. The remaining concrete slabs and trailer was towed away be another truck. The wrecked cabin was then removed by a crane.

Amazingly, no one was hurt in this crash. Speed may have had something to do with this wreck. The lorry must have gained speed downhill, and due to the heavy traffic, there was insufficient space to stop the lorry. That may have caused the driver to instinctly swerve the vehicle across the road, where there were no vehicles at that time.
