Nissan to be fined in South Korea over manipulated emissions

Nissan will be fined $380,000 in South Korea after their environment ministry claims that they found evidence of a defeat device in the cars. These defeat devices, which work by turning on the exhaust reduction system when the car detects it is being tested, have been fitted to Qashqai Diesels. However, evidence gathered by the South Koreans clash with data gathered by the EU, which states that no manipulation software has been detected onboard Nissan cars. The firm also denies the usage of such a device. The fine isn’t the only thing the company will face; they will have to recall the affected cars as well, and have been given just 90 days to fix the 814 cars.
