Nissan joined forces with Lucasfilm to create the special edition Nissan Rogue

Nobody is sure if it is a case of coincidence. But one thing is for sure - there is an obvious name association between the latest Rogue model from Japanese automobile manufacturer Nissan and the title of the first-ever standalone Star Wars movie "Rogue One: A Stars Wars Story". And what would be a better way for Nissan to raise the profile of the Nissan Rogue compact Sports Utility Vehicle (SUV) than to team up with Lucasfilm, the studio that created the Star Wars movie series, to produce a special-edition of the Nissan Rogue that incorporates Star Wars-branded elements. Only 5,400 units of the special edition Nissan Rogue, known as the "Nissan Rogue: Rogue One Star Wars Limited Edition", will be produced. Exclusively based on the design of the 2017 Nissan Rogue, 5,000 of the "Nissan Rogue: Rogue One Star Wars Limited Edition" will be sold in the United States market. The remaining 400 units will be reserved for the Canadian market. Apart from the customised features and equipment, each vehicle comes with an exclusive numbered, full-sized replica of the Death Trooper helmet. Addressing the unprecedented collaboration, Jeremy Tucker, Vice-President of Marketing Communications & Media at Nissan North American, said: "The Nissan Rogue and the first Star Wars standalone movie share more than just a name. The Star Wars film franchise has pushed the boundaries of technology since the debut of the original episode nearly 40 years ago. Nissan is doing the same with its industry-leading cars, trucks and SUVs like the new Rogue - our most advanced Rogue to date - so it's natural that the two join forces." Nissan has been showcasing the 2017 Nissan Rogue in a series of Star Wars-themed marketing campaigns, consistently demonstrating the vehicle's Intelligent Safety Shield technologies and the Nissan Rogue's ability to "conquer any battle". The first special effects-heavy commercials debuted in late October. Whilst the various marketing efforts showed the 2017 Nissan Rogue in a simulated Star Wars battlefield, the "Nissan Rogue: Rogue One Star Wars Limited Edition" stands uniquely as a collectible, real-world vehicle. Just like the 2017 Nissan Rogue, every "Nissan Rogue: Rogue One Star Wars Limited Edition" is fitted with the Panoramic Moonroof. An all-wheel-drive vehicle, the "Nissan Rogue: Rogue One Star Wars Limited Edition" features a pair of signature LED headlights, black grille and lower finisher, black rear door finisher, black roof rails and door handles, D-pillar "Rebel Alliance" and "Galactic Empire" logo decals, "Star Wars" logo clear rear bumper protector and Rogue One logo badging on the front doors. Interior-wise, each "Nissan Rogue: Rogue One Star Wars Limited Edition" comes with carpeted floor mats that are imprinted with the "Star Wars" logo. The "Rebel Alliance" and "Galactic Empire" logos that are stamped on the cupholder inserts, along with interior accent lighting, complemented the Star Wars theme in the cabin. The limited edition SUV is offered in just two colours - Magnetic Black and Glacier White. Powered by a 2.5-litre DOHC 16-valve inline 4-cyclinder engine, the "Nissan Rogue: Rogue One Star Wars Limited Edition" pours out a staggering amount of 170 horsepower and 175 pound-feet of torque. The vehicle also comes standard with the the next-generation Nissan Xtronic transmission with Sport and Eco Mode switches. Mr Tucker added: "For most fans, their love affair with Star Wars started in childhood, with hours spent playing with miniature replicas of the various X-wing fighters and other vehicles. Now, for a special few, they have a chance to engage with a full-scale collectible, the Nissan Rogue: Rogue One Star Wars Limited Edition. And more than just a big kid toy, the Limited Edition is every inch the real thing - a Rogue for every adventure you can imagine."
