New Renault Megane RS275 Trophy-R Conquers
The New Renault Mégane RS275 Trophy-R has become the first production car to set a lap record of 2:23 min, at an average speed of 133km/h, at Australia’s Albert Park Grand Prix Circuit last week on 12th March 2015. Last year, the New Renault Mégane RS275 Trophy-R took on and set new front-wheel-drive production car lap records at two challenging circuits, the Germany’s infamous Nürburgring and Japan’s Suzuka Circuit. Now, it has confidently added a third title to its crown on the Albert Park Grand Prix Circuit.
Infiniti Red Bull Racing’s new recruit, Daniil Kvyat was the one steering the New Renault Mégane RS275 Trophy-R to this impressive time.
Commenting before starting the race, Kvyat said, “I’m really looking forward to getting behind the wheel of the New Renault Mégane RS275 Trophy-R and I’m thrilled to have this opportunity to set the first ever production car lap record at the Albert Park Circuit. It will be a great opportunity to get some track time ahead of the Grand Prix, and even better to do it with a Renault engine.”
This is the first time that a commercially-available production vehicle under or up to 2.0-litres has set a timed lap at the Albert Park Grand Prix Circuit, and there is no better vehicle other than the coveted New Renault Mégane R.S. 275 Trophy-R to do it.
The New Renault Mégane RS275 Trophy-R comes as standard with the Cup chassis (complete with mechanical Limited-Slip Differential), 2.0-litre petrol R.S. engine (boosted to 275bhp), a titanium Akrapovic exhaust system, ‘Öhlins Road & Track’ one-way adjustable dampers with composite springs and MICHELIN Pilot Sport Cup 2 tyres that are specifically-adapted to the car.
