New Range Rover Sport Stunt Bends The Laws Of Physics
Do you recall a film by Land Rover in 2018, where the Range Rover Sport Plug-In Hybrid climbed 999 steps on Heaven’s Gate on Tianmen Mountain? The video has since gathered no less than five million views, but the firm did not rest on its laurels.
In another spine-tingling attempt to defy the laws of physics, the new Range Rover Sport capabilities were put to the test in Iceland, where it climbed a flooded dam spillway and successfully resisted the surging torrent of water flowing down the ramp of the Karahnjukar Dam.
It was an ultimate test of traction - one “mistake” would prove catastrophic as it risked plunging down the 90m drop at the base of the spillway to the valley floor.
If you’re thinking of replicating a stunt similar to this in Singapore (not!), you’ll have to wait until late Q4 2022. The new Range Rover Sport available for the local market includes a full EV and PHEV that provides a pure-electric driving range of up to 113km, although they will be made available from 2024 onwards.
For this year, customers can look forward to one ICE variant - a 530PS V8 motor with twin turbos, capable of propelling its hulking frame to 100km/h in 4.5 seconds.
