The Unstoppable Niro 48Hr Challenge held from 18 to 20 April has successfully concluded, demonstrating the Kia Niro Hybrid's fuel efficiency and engineering. The event involved 49 participants and 25 vehicles, who tested their endurance, strategy and ability to cover long distances across Singapore.
1,552km on a single tank!
The winning team set a new record, driving 1,552km on a single 42-litre tank, beating the 2022 record of 970.3km. Their accomplishment earned them a place in the Singapore Book of Records and the grand prize of S$10,000 in cash and service credits.
Over 48 hours, teams in the Unstoppable Niro Challenge navigated Singapore’s roads with careful planning, focusing on fuel efficiency through strategic driving shifts and routes. Each vehicle's tank was sealed at the start, with a pit stop midway to encourage participants.
The Kia Niro Hybrid was expected to deliver up to 1,050km of range and 25km/l of fuel efficiency based on WLTP. Several teams surpassed the 1,000km mark, which was already an impressive feat. But to clock a number 50% higher than official claims? Beat that!
