BMW Asia has launched the new BMW M3 Competition Sedan and BMW M3 Competition Touring, both featuring M xDrive.

“There are many success stories out there but nothing comes close to the BMW M3,” said Mr. Lars Nielsen, Managing Director, BMW Group Asia. “The new BMW M3, regardless of body type, delivers the best that BMW M has to offer. In a world where EVs get all the attention right now, this legendary icon continues to reign as the ultimate driver’s car. It is this passion for performance that fuels our engineers and customers alike to push the boundaries all the time.”

Differing characters

The BMW M3 Competition Sedan and Touring models each have unique characteristics, and yet they share key design features. Both sport the signature vertical kidney grille, flared wheel arches, high-gloss side skirts and front/rear apron attachments. The Sedan includes a standard carbonfibre roof, while the Touring comes with a black roof, roof rails and a Gurney flap for optimised airflow. The Touring model also adds practicality with foldable rear seats, expanding cargo space from 500 to a whopping 1,510 litres.

New steering wheel

They now come with a redesigned three-spoke M leather steering wheel with a flat-bottom rim, multifunction buttons and a red centre marker at 12 o’clock. It includes two M buttons for personalised vehicle setups and gearshift paddles to manage the eight-speed M Steptronic transmission. An optional M Alcantara steering wheel is available for the first time.

EVs ain’t getting all the attention

The new BMW M3 Competition Sedan and Touring with M xDrive are equipped with a high-revving 3.0-litre straight-six turbo engine. Race-inspired elements, such as a rigid closed-deck crankcase, lightweight forged crankshaft and wire-arc sprayed iron-coated cylinder bores enhance performance. A 3D-printed cylinder head core further optimises coolant flow, boosting the engine's capabilities on both road and track.

530hp, sub-four 0-100km/h

Both receive a power boost, delivering 530hp (up from 510hp). The six-cylinder engine generates 650Nm of torque between 2,750 and 5,730rpm. As a result, the M3 Competition Sedan accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 3.5 seconds, while the Touring achieves it in 3.6 seconds.

BMW Operating System 8.5

Both feature the latest BMW iDrive system, powered by Operating System 8.5. The BMW Curved Display includes a 12.3-inch information display and a 14.9-inch control display, both providing M-specific content. The upgraded BMW Personal Assistant enables touch control and natural language interaction, while the standard BMW Head-Up Display projects essential driving information such as a multi-coloured rpm dial and Shift Lights onto the windshield.
