New BMW 7 Series Teased, All-Electric i7 Will Be Most Powerful In Model Lineup

Information about the new BMW 7 Series was teased during BMW Group’s Annual Conference, weeks before its world premiere. Technological highlights, a new front-end design and a new interior dominated initial details for BMW’s state-of-the-art flagship. BMW also confirmed that it will present the all-electric BMW i7, and with it the entirely new BMW 7 Series. The i7 will be the world’s first all-electric luxury sedan, boasting a range of more than 600km per charge.

In the BMW i7, design elements of twin round headlights and BMW grille have been reinterpreted to achieve a more distinctive look - upper light elements made of exclusive crystal glass and the illuminated contour of the kidney grille dominate the entire front end.

On the inside, focus will be on the latest-gen iDrive system. “My Modes” enable the driver to customise the car’s driving characteristics and interior ambience. Apart from the BMW Curved Display (adopted in the BMW iX), a new type of light and function strip on the instrument panel and doors will provide a more luxurious ambience for driver and passengers. Another highlight will be the “Sky Lounge” panoramic glass roof.

The BMW Theatre Screen, which moves out of the roof liner, is an ultra-wide 31-inch screen with a 32:9 panoramic display format capable of 8K streaming resolution transforms the rear seats into an exclusive, private cinema lounge. We’re eager to see how this stacks up against the EQS from Mercedes-EQ, although not necessarily a direct comparison as Mercedes-Benz made it clear to differentiate the S Class saloon from the forward-looking, all-electric Mercedes-EQ fleet.
