Is the new BMW 1 Series larger than its predecessor?
Only very slightly - for the five-door model, it is now 42mm longer (4,361mm), with a 2,670mm wheelbase, 1,800mm width, and 25mm increase in height (1,459mm).
What has changed in terms of looks?
The front end now sits lower, the radiator grille features a structure of vertical and diagonal bars and daytime running lights are now vertical. The side profile reveals a sportier, more wedge-shaped silhouette. Taillights look edgier, with a two-part design.
When will the new BMW 1 Series arrive in Singapore?
We’ll have to wait for official local announcements, but globally, market launches will start from October 2024. The latest generation will be manufactured at the BMW Group plant in Leipzig. Germany is the primary sales region, with other key markets including various European countries and Japan, which ranks among the top five markets for the new model.
How many variants are there?
For petrol versions, there’s a 1.5-litre, 3 cylinder turbo 120 that pushes 170hp (0 - 100km/h in 7.8 seconds), and a top-of-the-line 2.0-litre turbo, 300hp M135 xDrive (0 - 100km/h in 4.9 seconds). Diesel options include a 118d and 120d. All are equipped with a 48-volt mild hybrid.
What materials are used for the interior of the new BMW 1 Series?
The interior is now leather-free. The new seats provide comfort for long journeys, with options for sport seats made from recycled polyester (Econeer version) and leather-like Veganza with perforated surfaces. The Veganza/Alcantara combination is standard in the M Sport Package and the BMW M135 xDrive.
How big is the new BMW 1 Series’ touchscreen?
The BMW Curved Display features a fully digital display system with a 10.25-inch Information Display and a 10.7-inch Control Display. Air conditioning is controlled digitally.

The new BMW 1 Series uses the latest BMW iDrive system - Operating System 9. The home screen features vertically arranged icons for easy access without navigating submenus. Agility and steering has been improved, along with cornering dynamics thanks to a more rigid body structure. There are preloaded anti-roll bar mounts and new shock absorbers. Caster of the front wheels has been increased by 20%, to supply better directional stability and steering feedback.
